Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

The other day I came across some of my old journals. I popped the most recent one open to see where I left off. I was pregnant with my first child...4 years ago!! The idea to sit and write in it crossed my mind then quickly left with the realization that I couldn't remember all of the things that have happened in the past 4 years! It would have been a very short journal entry and then I probably would have forgotten about the darn thing for another 4 years. That said, it made me sad that I didn't keep it up. Especially now that I have had children, I wish that I would have wrote about the day to day stuff back when my first was a baby. I guess the few thousand pictures that I have taken will remind me of things we did. At least I hope they will.

After my journal was stuffed back into the drawer and on it's way to being forgotten, again, I got back in touch with an old navy friend and came to find out that she has a blog. Now, I have never ever considered writing in a blog. I never thought that I would have anything interesting to write about. After reading through hers, I was in awe of the journal she has created and how fun it will be for her children to go back and read the things that were on their mom's mind while they were growing up.

I was hooked! What a great way to get back into journaling! I certainly don't want to spend the last few moments of my day scribbling into a book when I could be reading a perfectly good book instead. So, being totally inspired by an old Navy friend, I sat down to create my own blog. Of course, this could have been hammered out in one day. But on top of chasing two boys with endless energy, trying to keep up with my latest addiction (The Twilight Series), teaching Baby Boot Camp classes, and actually doing Baby Boot Camp work, my exciting new project took a back seat.

That didn't stop my husband. Prince Charming's passion and hobby is beer. Good beer. He makes it. He drinks it. Fortunately, he doesn't have a drinking problem, so I am not so concerned about his brewing habits. Anyway, my little brewmeister saw "the blog" as a way to journal about his beers. This is him here sporting his silver medal (and a goofy expression) that he received for one of the beers he submitted to a homebrew competition here in Arizona. Honey, please don't be mad about the picture. This is MY blog, I can put what I want in it. Anyway, Prince Charming had his own blog set up before I had even gotten started on mine. You can find the link to his website on the side.

I sat down without a clue as to what I would write tonight. I guess I just wanted to get started. Nothing special, just something. Thanks again, Navy friend (you know who you are), for reminding me just how much I enjoy writing in a journal and giving me ANOTHER project that I can use to procrastinate.

Hooray! It's always fun to welcome a new blogging buddy! I hope that you'll find it much easier to sit and post something quickly. And now that you have gotten started, I'll have to tell you about Blurb.com that allows you to publish your posts into a bound book! It is such a fun way to journal...welcome!!
