The first egg

Yesterday, I found Lola making a nest of sorts in one of my plants. She has never spent any time in this plant before. She was there for about 30 minutes and while she was there, she was finding dead parts and moving them aside. She kept spinning and sitting, making herself a perfect, round nest. Then she left.

Today, around the same time, I found her in the nest she made. She was there for a long time again doing the same behaviors. When I went to peek on her, she had left leaving in her place a perfect, tiny, brown egg.

She does have some work cut out for her, though. Her egg is pretty small compared to a grocery store egg. This is normal, it will get bigger as she matures.

Congratulations, Lola!! Woohoo!!

Yeah! Good job Lola! Yummy omelets, here you come. (I hear "home-laid" eggs have huge yolks and taste yummy.) Enjoy!
