The Costumes

This year both of my sons desired to dress up as characters from Star Wars.  I am not too surprised since they seem to live and breathe Star Wars these days.  Anyway, I had planned on making their costumes.  My mom always made our costumes and I want to do the same thing for my kids.  It is fun, I like doing it.  But when I realized that I barely had time to study for the classes I am taking, I thought it best to order the costumes instead.

These are not my children.  I have been unable to get pictures of them in their costumes because they change in and out of them so fast.  These costumes (and their light saber accessories) arrived about 3 weeks ago.  They have been sitting in my closet.  My plan was to keep them there until the evening of the 31st.  But, earlier this week, they started asking me when their costumes would arrive.  So, I dragged it out as long as I could.

The costumes "arrived" yesterday afternoon.  When I was a child we were not allowed to play with our costumes (or their accessories) until it was time to wear them to go trick or treating.  I decided, to hell with waiting.  They can sleep in them for all I care.  In hindsight, it was a good decision.  They have been playing "Star Wars" since yesterday afternoon.  They were SO excited to see them, I had to let them play with them.  There has been a little fighting, but for the most part they are having a great time.

I wonder how long they will play with them once Halloween passes.  I know that they chose these costumes for the light sabers.  So it will be interesting to see how long they continue to wear the actual costume.

Happy Halloween!!
