Schedules

Before I had school aged children, I thought that school days would be filled with this free time that I could use to do anything I wanted.  I thought that with the boys at school, and The Peach napping, I could catch up on blogging, edit photographs, sew aprons, make halloween costumes for the kids, you know, do fun stuff!

Fast forward to Kindergarten and Second Grade and my days are not only filled with pick ups and drop offs, but also homework, appointments, and extra-curricular activities.  Granted, I do have about 2 hours of time when my daughter is napping that are all mine.  However, somehow those 2 hours have been hijacked by my own homework and the never ending cleaning of clutter and folding of laundry.  I think that having children in school might be harder than going to school myself.

When I get to the bottom of it, though, whenever I do have a moment to do something for myself, there is always something else that I could be doing to take care of the house, or prepare for tomorrow.  And I am glad to do it.  I am certainly not striving for perfection in my home, not even close!  But I have a hard time paying myself with the free time I find.  Is that because I am a mother and I have a house and people to care for?  Or is it my Type A personality?  Finding that balance is something that I think all mothers struggle with.

Finding balance and finding time.  That seems to be the story of my days lately.
