Group Croup

So, my 2 year old has croup. He got it from his brother, go figure. This illness is not new to me. E has had it several times. One time we got to make a trip to the ER. So, when his raspy voice came about this afternoon, followed by the signature cough, I made a quick doc appointment and we were off to get some steriods that I knew the Doc would prescribe. Thinking I might save some valuable time, I had her call it in to the pharmacy. That way, I could make one quick stop on the way and be home in time to dose my son and start dinner. I should have known it wouldn't go so smoothly. Of course, they hadn't checked any messages by the time I got there (30 minutes after her call). He politely suggested that I come into the store (I was at the drive thru) and wait 20 minutes. He must have missed the hungry, fidgety munchkins in the back. This gentleman must not have children under the age of 5 that are currently sick and without an afternoon nap. So, now I must drag my kids back out after dinner to pick up these precious meds. Normally the 20 minute delay wouldn't be that big of a deal. However, Dad went in to work for a nightshift, so that leaves me. Thank goodness for the drive thru. And, there is light at the end of the tunnel! Early bedtime for the kiddos AND some shows on the DVR for me to watch. Let's just hope the boys won't care that I am replacing their "before bath show" with a trip to the drug store. I will have to make it interesting somehow.

You knew you were going to hear from me about this: IT'S NOT MCDONALD'S!!! It has nothing to do with inconveniencing you - it has to do with the overwhelming number of prescriptions with an overwhelming number of safety precautions and an overwhelming number of phone calls to be made (the insurance co, docs, patients) for each prescription. Poor guy was probably doing the best he could BY HIMSELF. Take it easy on him. Do you want it fast, or correct?
