The Crud

I would be hard pressed to find something worse than a baby with an unbelievably snotty nose.  So snotty in fact that when she wakes up in the morning, the snot forms a nice booger plug over both nostrils.  And it is on her cheeks.  And her eyebrows.  And in her hair.  Perhaps, when I am nursing the snotty baby (thank you bulb suction and saline drops) and I can feel her try to suppress throwing up all of the snot, THAT might be worse.  Only because I know what is coming.

We are knee deep in The Crud over here.  B had it first.  Just a runny nose, nothing big.  Fortunately he is 6 (almost 7 as he says) and he readily agrees to nasal rinses and blowing his nose.  His Crud didn't last long at all.  Then E starts coughing.  And coughing.  It sounds terrible, but there isn't any snot.  Then the fever comes.  Then the snot comes.  And it lasts for six days.  He won't do nasal rinses and won't blow his nose.  For the record, the fever is gone, but the cough remains.

Now The Peach has The Crud.  And I feel like she has the worst of it.  Perhaps I feel like it is the worst because she whines all of the time and has to be carried all of the time.  Good thing I like to snuggle.  I hope that she starts feeling better soon and the snot starts to subside.  Because if girlfriend sees the bulb for sucking out the snot or hears the beep from the rectal thermometer, she just about loses her bananas.
