Summer Camp!

Today the boys start Summer Camp, and they couldn't have been more excited.  I am pretty excited, too, because from 8:30 until Noon it is relatively quiet in my house.  This year, we decided to try out Hubbard Sports Camp.  If you are living in the Greater Phoenix Area and have small children, you have probably heard of (or take lessons at) their Swim School.  Last year the boys heard (through the grapevine of course) that they could learn Archery if they were at Hubbard.  That was all they needed to hear to seal the deal.

I was looking for a new summer activity, anyway, since last year E got kicked out of the swimming portion because he screamed during the lesson.  It turns out he DID NOT like what the instructors were making him try.  I guess he is really partial to the swim instructors at Hubbard Family Swim School.  I am really pleased with the swim school and the progress that the boys have made.  I had also heard rave reviews about the Summer Camp from many different parents.  Picking the Sports Camp as their summer activity was easy.  Yes, the camp is costly.  But, I thought we would give it a try given all of the positive press.

I will be back with a full report from the boys, soon.  I am just hoping that they make some new friends, enjoy their counselors and coaches, and have a ton of fun.  That is money well spent in my book.

Overheard

We are currently working on curbing the "potty-talk" in this house.  However, the other day when I heard these gems, I laughed out loud.  And, by doing that, I possibly gave them the boost they needed to keep it up.

"Oh!  My wee-wee needs to spit."
and
"B, is your butt done barfing?"

I am wondering if all boys come up with this kind of stuff.

Yes, I'm Excited

I made a paper chain.  My husband and I are going on a cruise to Alaska in late June to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and I'm excited.  So, I made a paper chain.  I feel like we booked this trip a gazillion months ago.  I hadn't really let myself think about it much because it was SOOOO far away.  Now it is about a month away.  That is SOON!  It is far enough away for me to wish it was sooner and it is soon enough for me to actually start prepping, planning, and organizing.  The cruise website has live webcam shots from the ship and we are getting a kick out of checking it daily to see where it is.  Yesterday we watched it leave San Francisco en route to Victoria, B.C.  Has anyone cruised to Alaska?  Any packing tips you can offer?  I have already started my packing lists.  And I like making lists.

Finally!

This is now her preferred method of transportation.  Unless she wants to go somewhere REALLY FAST.  We are all so excited for her.  She is excited about it, too.

She walks

The Peach has finally figured out the walking trick and is is just tickled pink about it.  My husband and I decided that she was just simply choosing NOT to walk because she has been able to for the past month or so.  Now she can wear more dresses and her knees won't be black!

In the background you will also get to her one of her brothers screeching like a bird. It's your lucky day! In the background you will also get to her one of her brothers screeching like a bird.  It's your lucky day!

They're Gone!

Back in March, I wrote a post about switching back to cloth diapers.  I had 178 diapers remaining.  The last diaper of that stash was used on Sunday.  It took me 67 days to go through those.  On average, I used 2.65 diapers per day.  I would say, on any given day, we go through about 6 diapers.  So, during those 67 days, while using the cloth diaper stash, I DIDN'T use about 224 disposable diapers.  That is almost $70, if my math is right of course.

I was always aware of the savings, since the cloth diapers have paid for themselves a long time ago.  I guess what I needed to be reminded of most was how simple cloth diapers are to use.  Mission accomplished.

It's Broken

Well, the Pediatric Orthopedic doctor confirmed her little wrist fracture.  I was secretly hoping that she wouldn't have to be in a cast since she has a "stable fracture."  However, since she is not a steady walker and her risk of falling is high, she got a pretty pink cast to wear.  When they were putting it on I had the option of either having her elbow tied up or her thumb tied up.  Both are crummy, but I figured that having her elbow in a cast would make it difficult for her to crawl.  Her brothers often comment on her permanent "thumbs up" situation.

The good news is that she only has to wear it for three weeks and it hasn't slowed her down one bit.  The bad news is that bath time is becoming a bear and the "finger jam" she gets on her cast hand is starting to gross me out.

Learning how to walk is a dangerous sport!

Isn't that the cutest tiny pink cast you have ever seen?  The Peach broke her wrist on April 27th.  She was practicing her walking skills and, while she was tumbling, tried to break her fall.  At first we were annoyed with all of the dramatic crying.  She tends to drag out her crying as long as possible as it is, but goodness gracious she was carrying on and on.  When she was calm, she went to crawl and started sobbing again.  That was when we suspected that something might be wrong.

I guess we have our chickens to thank

For our wild tomato plant.

My husband thinks this is about the coolest thing he has ever seen.
