Well, we did it again! A lovely tree, plucked from the hills near Sunrise Ski Park, made its way home with us this weekend. As we have done for the past several years, we head up to Pinetop, AZ with two other families to cut down our christmas tree. Six adults and nine children made themselves nice and cozy in my parent's cabin. Every year they are so generous to let us use their cabin so that we can have this fun adventure. As I said before, six adults and nine children. Fortunately 4 of them are less than 3 feet tall, so it didn't seem as crowded as it could.
It was another great year. We lucked out with weather. It was sunny and in the 40s and fresh snow from the weekend before. There was lots of good food and plenty of laughs! This is one of my favorite trips and I look forward to it every year. Yeah, it can be a bit stressful organizing a crowd that big, but it never bothers me. These are some of my favorite people and spending an entire weekend with two of my besties makes this girl happy.
The actual act of cutting down our tree went off without a hitch. Well, almost. When we were gearing up to leave, one of our team lost their car keys. As our heads were spinning with all of the different places keys could have possibly fallen out, they were found trapped in his pants down by his boots.
As the guys went off to find our tree, I hung out with The Peach by the car. She wasn't too excited about her gear and kept begging me for her lovey. Shortly after I gave it to her, I found her cleaning the muddy running boards on the suburban. Nice.
E got hot after a while and headed back to the car to ditch his coat. He filled the rest of his time with making snowballs to throw at people.
We found ourselves a good looking tree and after trimming off the bottom a bit, we loaded it up and headed back to the cabin for some sledding and naps for the babies! But not before I had my friend take a picture of me and my guy. I am never in pictures, so I had to sneak in one!
I like how E thought he was photo bombing this picture. I wonder what kind of face he was making. Anyway, it was a great weekend and tomorrow I get to start putting the lights on. My LEAST favorite job. I also have to teach the puppies to stay away from the tree. All day they have been digging in and drinking from the tree bowl outside. Great. I think between the puppies and The Peach I will have my work cut out for me!
