First day of school

Today marks the first day of another school year.  However, it still feels like summer outside.  August 8th? Really?  I remember starting school at the end of August.  Not the beginning.  Regardless, the boys were very excited this morning.

E starts Kindergarten this morning.  KINDERGARTEN!!!

I remember when he was my itty bitty baby buddy.  Now he is starting an amazing adventure.  He was so darling this morning.  He showed no signs of nervousness or anxiety.  He was excited.  He was beaming excitement.  It was oozing out of him.  He wanted to lay his clothes out last night so he would be ready in the morning.  When he was choosing his clothes, he was careful to pick his "church clothes."    This kid will have an amazing year.  He is smart, eager to learn, has a lot to say, and is a great friend.  When I dropped him off this morning, he left my side before I could grab a quick hug and kiss.  He just wanted to jump in with both feet and start his day.  Fortunately, he came back for a quick goodbye and then he was off!  I can't wait to hear about his day.  I hope he doesn't spare any detail, I want to know it all.

And this one?!  This kid is in 2nd grade.  SECOND!!!

While he might not have seemed as eager as his brother to get back to school, the fact that he dropped his backpack off and left without a goodbye assured me that he is ready to get back in to it.  From what I have heard, he has a great teacher, and he is in the same class as a few of his good buddies from last year.  With first grade under his belt, he is all set to learn and succeed.

After a very hot and humid walk on the Bridle Path, The Peach and I returned to a very quiet house.  So, we are going to play.  And have fun.  Then before we know it, the school day will end, and we will go get our boys so they can make the house rowdy again.

Happy first day of school, boys!  You will have a great year.

I cannot believe that you start school so early!! It gives me butterflies to think about the first day. I think I am more nervous as a parent than I was as a kid. It is such a fun, exciting day but yikes, jittery too! Your boys are so big and handsome. Yeah for school!

School already? Crazy! But they sure look cute.
Thanks for your reccommendations. I have been looking into them and have a strengthened resolve. My intuition knows many of those things (like butter being good, soy not so good, processed is bad, etc) and I can remember to do right by my kids most of the time, but MY diet has suffered a LOT since being a mom. Shame on me. I'll keep you posted on my journey to wellness. Thanks again.
